We are not human beings having a spiritual experience;
but spiritual beings having a human experience.
Pierre Teillhard de Chardin
If I haven't slept, this is apparent to Andy from the very first moment that we look at each other. He knows me very well, I don't need to say a word. For Deepa, the indication is far more physical. Several times recently she has commented that I look dull ie I have a lacklustre appearance which I can feel. In other words, the energy that normally flows freely around my body has been blocked by my poor quality sleep. This is one of the reasons I want to try Reiki.
Reiki. An unseen life force energy which flows through each and every person. 'Rei' means the higher power in Japanese and 'Ki' is life force energy. So put together, Reiki means 'spiritually guided life force energy.' I believe strongly in energy and have always been fascinated by the idea of it guiding us and healing us. It is something that is available to everyone, but only those who seek it can benefit from it. And whilst it's something that has always been of interest to me, I haven't spent nearly as much time exploring how it can help me as it merits. Now is a good time. Here is my opportunity.
I had my second reiki session yesterday. Priya is amazed that a person as exhausted as me can come in, lie on the treatment table for an hour and have a treatment and not fall asleep. She said it is far more common for her clients to nod off than stay awake. But this, I suppose, is an indication of how wired my thoughts are. I believe that Reiki can help me, but there is no quick fix solution to this. Having just a few sessions can only do so much. I have three months left in India and I pledge to give this a good go. I will keep going, every week, and I will attend the weekend course where I can become 'attuned' as it is called and then practise Reiki on myself as well as others.
