Do not ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive. The world needs more people who have come alive.
Howard Thurman
I slept deeply last night, completely exhausted from a long walk we had been on in the afternoon. Sleeping deeply is something I very, very rarely do and I must confess it has left me feeling quite confused and groggy this morning! But this is different from feeling tired, so I raise my glass to another monday morning that I am not battling with insomnia.
Perhaps Thurman's question is an important one; to ask what truly makes us come alive in order to live parallel to the highest thing within us. Here are a few things that spring to mind in my own personal experience:
* Being in nature. Being surrounded by breeze, fields, trees and wildlife.
* Visiting new places. Seeing places for the first time and feeling that electric bolt of excitement; the joy of a traveller.
* Writing. Writing makes me feel alive.
There are more things I could add to this, but it's worth incorporating these experiences into my day if I am low. The first in my list is difficult in Bangalore, but the second and third are more than possible.
