Any journey of value is above all a chapter in a personal odyssey. Its end is not so much a goal attained as another point in a continuing process and the important thing at the end of a journey...is to keep moving forward, refreshed, with as little pause as possible.

This week my article on 'Dealing with Insomnia' came out in The Green Parent magazine which is a great feeling. I wouldn't wish insomnia on anybody - but I know what a common problem it is; just having a quick browse through cyber-world, the amount of therapies and potions and manuals all claiming to improve sleep is vast which shows the need is there. So if my article can help anyone, even one person, in some way to deal with sleeplessness better, then I've achieved what I set out to do. Writing it also helped me personally to get a few things off my chest.
The use of the word 'refreshed' in Colin Fletcher's quote above is an interesting one. It's not a feeling I've been familiar with for some time now and have always felt a twinge of unhelpful envy when people tell me they've woken up that morning for example feeling refreshed, or come back from a holiday refreshed. However, as I am documenting in this blog, the journey I'm taking at the moment with Reiki and travelling within means that I'm looking towards the future with a far wider lens than I had before. I feel excited but calmer than ever before and stronger aswell. And perhaps I have the insomnia to thank for this.
