Here I am in London. Yesterday I had my first appointment with a consultant neurologist. I had to do lots of wacky things such as being watched whilst I walked up and down the room, squeezing my eyes tightly shut and pushing against his hands with my own. He also tested my eyes, reflexes and listened as I told him the whole tale from start to present. I scored 0 out of 24 on an indicator scale for places or situations where one is able to fall asleep during the day following a bad night, and I noticed that he kept stressing that I have insomnia 'without excessive daytime sleepiness'. When I stressed that I am very sleepy indeed on the next day, he said this wasn't the same thing, and that he was looking into the ability to fall asleep in the daytime.
He wouldn't offer any analysis at this stage (which I was expecting) but it feels good as things are moving - I had blood taken to test for fifteen different things, including Vitamin B12, calcium and cortisol. And later this week I will go for an MRI scan to check the brain and the hypothalamic region to see if there are any abnormalities there and I have another appointment with him next monday.
As for this morning...I left the house to snow! Slushy, mushy snow. But snow nonetheless. I have my nutritionist's appointment today so let's see if I stick to this pretty annoying non-gluten & dairy diet or not.
